Academic Merit Scholarship
Operation CARE offers an Academic Merit Scholarship Award for up to two (2) of our mentees who have been a part of our mentorship for three years, or a minimum of 18 months, if mentee exudes exceptional growth during an 18-month period.
Mentees must be graduating from high school and embarking on a post-high school education. Mentee must also meet all deadlines to include meeting the minimum criteria for the HAT Academic Merit Scholarship Award.

Purpose: To provide scholarships for up to two (2) members of Strings of Pearls mentorship program who are graduating high school seniors intending to pursue post-high school education at an accredited college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.
​
Award Components: Up to two (2) scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each will be awarded up to two students selected by the Operation CARE Scholarship Committee.

Applicant Criteria:

Must be an active member of Operation CARE Strings of Pearls mentorship program in good standing for at least three years or a minimum of 18 months if mentee exudes exceptional growth during an 18-month period

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award

Must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale each from the previous and current year

Must be accepted at an accredited two or four-year college/university (Enrollment documentation required)

Must demonstrate positive role, impact, and involvement in school, church, and local community (Recommendations required)
Application Process:
Applicant must submit the following items:

Completed application form by the deadline date of 10 April

Three (3) SIGNED letters of recommendations from the following: (1) a high school teacher or counselor on school letterhead (2) A member who is active within a local Church and can speak to them student’s character on church letterhead and (3) an employer, community organization, coach or other community member who can attest to the student’s positive involvement in the community. Letters from family members will NOT be allowed.
